Connect your PBX

Keep your phone system. Connect it to BluePenguin so the AI can answer and transfer calls back to your extensions.

Your numbers stay with your current provider and your PBX keeps routing calls. You decide which calls reach the AI: all of them, the overflow of a ring group, after-hours calls, or one IVR option. Pro includes 10 PBX SIP trunks. Core does not include PBX SIP trunks.

#How it works

  1. Your PBX registers a SIP trunk to BluePenguin with a username and password, or we accept its calls by IP address.
  2. Your PBX dials the pilot number 7777 down the trunk whenever the AI should answer.
  3. The AI answers. When it transfers, the call goes back up the same trunk to the extension you set as a transfer target.
  1. #Create the trunk

On Phone numbers → PBX / SIP choose Connect your phone system, pick your vendor, and choose the authentication:

    • Username and password. Your PBX registers to us, which works behind NAT and on dynamic IPs.
    • IP address. We accept calls only from the public IPs you list.
  2. #Copy the settings

The trunk page shows the SIP server, ports, username and password (shown once, and you can generate a new one), plus steps for your vendor. They are also below.

  3. #Route calls to 7777

Send the calls you want answered to the pilot number. The trunk shows Registered once your PBX connects.

  4. #Add extensions as transfer targets

Add each extension the AI may transfer to as a transfer target.
