Website voice widget

Turn website visitors into conversations. Add a voice button so they can talk to your AI in the browser.

#Install

Create a public key under Settings → API keys, list the website addresses allowed to use it, and paste this before </body>:

HTML
<script src="https://app.bluepenguin.io/widget.js"
        data-key="bp_pub_your_public_key"
        data-assistant="12"
        data-label="Talk to us"
        data-color="#2f6fdf"
        data-position="right"
        async></script>
data-keystringrequired
Your public key.
data-assistantnumber
Which assistant answers. Leave it out to use the key's first allowed assistant, or your default one.
data-labelstringdefault Talk to us
The button text.
data-colorCSS colourdefault #2f6fdf
The button colour.
data-positionleft | rightdefault right
Which bottom corner the button sits in.

The button opens a small panel with a live transcript, mute and end call. It is drawn inside a shadow root, so your site's styles can't change it and it can't change your site.

The assistant's Deploy tab shows the snippet with its id filled in.

#Public keys are safe to publish

  • A public key only works from the website addresses you listed. Requests from anywhere else are refused.
  • It only works for the assistants you allowed.
  • It can start browser calls and nothing else. It can't read calls, contacts or settings.
  • Each visitor can start a few calls per hour, and calls stop at your plan's concurrent-call limit.

#Calls from the widget

Widget calls appear under Call logs with the channel "Website". They fire the call.completed webhook like phone calls. The widget is included in Pro. AI calling minutes are charged by actual usage, separately from the monthly platform fee.

Note
The call box on bluepenguin.io uses the same public API, with a scenario picker in front of it.
