Connect FreePBX

Let the AI answer calls from FreePBX (And Sangoma PBXact) and transfer them back to your team. Connect your phone system with these steps.

First create a trunk on Phone numbers → PBX / SIP and choose FreePBX. In the steps below, SIP_SERVER, USERNAME and TRUNK_PASSWORD are the values shown on your trunk page.

#Steps

  1. Connectivity → Trunks → Add Trunk → Add SIP (chan_pjsip) Trunk. Name it "BluePenguin".

  2. pjsip Settings, General: the trunk username and password, Authentication Outbound, Registration Send, the SIP server and port 5060, context from-pstn.

  3. Codecs: ulaw, then alaw. Submit and apply the config.

  4. Connectivity → Outbound Routes → Add: dial pattern 7777, trunk sequence BluePenguin.

  5. Applications → Misc Destinations → Add "AI receptionist" dialling 7777. Use it as the destination of an inbound route, IVR option, time condition or ring group failover.

#Check it works

  1. The trunk page shows Registered (for username and password trunks).
  2. Dial 7777 from an internal extension. The AI should answer.
  3. Ask to be transferred to a person, and check the call reaches the extension you set.
