Connect Cisco

Let the AI answer calls from Cisco (CUBE, CUCM and CME) and transfer them back to your team. Connect your phone system with these steps.

First create a trunk on Phone numbers → PBX / SIP and choose Cisco. In the steps below, SIP_SERVER, USERNAME and TRUNK_PASSWORD are the values shown on your trunk page, which also shows this snippet with your values filled in.

#Steps

  1. On the CUBE router, add the credentials, registrar and dial-peer below. Change the tag numbers to free ones if needed.

  2. Calls sent to 7777 reach the AI. In CUCM, add a route pattern 7777 pointing at the SIP trunk to this CUBE.

  3. Add the BluePenguin gateway address to voice service voip → ip address trusted list.

CUBE configuration
voice service voip
 ip address trusted list
  ipv4 SIP_SERVER_IP
!
sip-ua
credentials username USERNAME password 0 TRUNK_PASSWORD realm SIP_SERVER
authentication username USERNAME password 0 TRUNK_PASSWORD realm SIP_SERVER
 registrar dns:SIP_SERVER:5060 expires 3600
!
dial-peer voice 7777 voip
 description BluePenguin AI receptionist
 destination-pattern 7777
 session protocol sipv2
 session target dns:SIP_SERVER:5060
 dtmf-relay rtp-nte
 codec g711ulaw
 no vad

#Check it works

  1. The trunk page shows Registered (for username and password trunks).
  2. Dial 7777 from an internal extension. The AI should answer.
  3. Ask to be transferred to a person, and check the call reaches the extension you set.
